Did you like it from the get-go?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>A:<\/b>\u00a0One of the first questions I was asked before I actually joined was whether or not I would be ok with wearing a mask\u2026 I loved the idea.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Q:<\/b>\u00a0You are\/were in a Kiss tribute called Deuce. Can you tell us a little bit about that? When did that band first start jamming and is it still going?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>A:<\/b>\u00a0Deuce was around from 2004 to 2011\u2026 just some friends in other bands that were into Kiss to varying degrees.<br \/>The drummer and I saw a Kiss tribute band play at a local club one night and we were astonished by how terrible they were.<br \/>It was a whole bunch of fun and good money, but it was a lot of work to put on the caliber\/quality of show that we did.<br \/>People were starting to have kids and get busy with other projects so we all kind of lost interest.<br \/>As a matter of fact \u2013 I was the only one in the band that didn\u2019t have a kid on the way when we played our last show. Wink<br \/>I wouldn\u2019t totally count out a Deuce reunion, but it\u2019s pretty unlikely.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Q:<\/b>\u00a0Can you tell us a little bit about your current band \u2018Only\u2019 ? (line-up,releases,website etc)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>A:<\/b>\u00a0I played bass in Only from 2008 to 2012 \u2013 actually I was more of a hired gun for live shows in 2012.<br \/>The only full length record that Only did was called Immortal (07 or 06?) I didn\u2019t play on it.<br \/>The three main members of Only are now in a band called Green Death who are picking up quite a following in Des Moines. Check em out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Q:<\/b>\u00a0Where did the Hugh Hefner styled pimp jacket come from (mfkr era) ?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>A:<\/b>\u00a0If my memory serves\u2026. I believe that Shawn\u2019s wife Chantell imparted that to me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Q:<\/b>\u00a0Do you remember how the jumpsuit idea came about? Was it at a band practice or a meeting where one of you mentioned it or something?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>A:\u00a0<\/b>Not exactly \u2013 the original jumpsuits were intended to look like your \u201cMichael Myers serial killer boiler suit\u201d type of thing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Q:<\/b>\u00a0This one\u2019s very important to us here at MFKRboard, but do you happen to remember what Craig had written on the back of his helmet in the MFKR era before he sprayed it black? Written with big black letters on the back but we can\u2019t make out the word.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>A:<\/b>\u00a0I want to say that it was a Sinclair sticker\/logo, but I don\u2019t remember for sure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Q:\u00a0<\/b>Now I know that KISS is your favorite band, what\u2019s your alltime favorite KISS tune?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>A:<\/b>\u00a0Kiss is dead to me. Idiots. lol That whole rock and roll hall of fame thing really got under my skin.<br \/>Actually probably the song Firehouse if I had to pick one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Q:<\/b>\u00a0Which OAPH album is your favorite one?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>A:<\/b>\u00a0I like all three for various reasons \u2013 but I believe Generation Of Vipers to be the best. It was absolutely definitive of the OAPH sound.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Q:<\/b>\u00a0If you were asked to describe the atmosphere at the Indigo Ranch in late 98-early 99 when you were recording Slipknot in one word, what word would you use to describe it?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>A:\u00a0<\/b>Clusterfuck.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Q:<\/b>\u00a0Did drugs play a part in the early days of \u2018knot whatsoever? Also, what was the song writing process, in which orders would you do things? Throw riffs and drums together, then have Anders\/Corey write lyrics that fit, or did you work your riffs around lyrics. (from Prosthetic William)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>A:\u00a0<\/b>Actually drugs and alcohol were very strongly discouraged in the early days. Too bad it didn\u2019t stay that way, huh?<br \/>There was never really any tried and true method to writing that I can recall. Play riff, drums play along, repeat.<br \/>Anders has literally books full of lyrics from my recollection, so I am guessing that most of the lyrics were written before the music in that case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Q:<\/b>\u00a0What did you ever do with your first cloth executioner mask you used before getting the rubber bondage mask? It has been said its not Fehn, or Darner. But a \u201cFriend\u201d of the Band. Heard a Rumor it may have been then \u201cRoadie\/Clown Tech\u201d Anthony Satone, or \u201cRoadie\u201d Aaron Keltner. (from David Pritt)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>A:<\/b>\u00a0I contacted Aaron Peltz who was in Pale Horse with me about starting a heavier band after Pale Horse broke up again early 2013.<br \/>He was pretty full up (he is in like a million bands) but maybe would I want to talk about joining Deadfront? \u2013 The intention when DF got back together was that Aaron would play guitar and sing in the band.<br \/>Initially after we had spoken I think he had decided to keep it a four piece and play guitar. A couple of months went by, and he was having trouble getting focused on singing while playing guitar \u2013 so he<br \/>got back in touch with me and I went over to listen and hang out with them. I really loved the new stuff they were doing. Plus I have known all of those guys for years\u2026.all great dudes. We\u2019re all vets.<br \/>They gave me a copy of the 10-11 songs and I think I learned them all in like three days. It\u2019s just really an ironic twist that I am in that band actually.
